Parking in Penang

Penang Smart Parking is an app-based parking system for Penang. This parking facility covers some 38,000 parking lots owned by the Penang State Government through the Penang Island City Council and the Seberang Perai City Council. The parking fee on Penang Island is 40 cents for every half an hour, and on Seberang Perai, 40 cents for every hour. Parking fees are chargeable from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM, Mondays to Saturdays. Parking is free on Sundays and on public holidays. Everywhere in Penang, and especially in George Town, you can find signages like the one above stating the required parking charges.
